Magnetic Recording Storage
Magnetic data storage media, such as hard disk drives (HDDs), are among the most critical components in computers. With the widespread application of computers, the market demand and performance metrics (like storage density) for magnetic data storage media have seen leapfrog development. Hard disk platters mainly consist of a recording layer, an intermediate layer, and a soft magnetic underlayer. Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) is the primary coating technology for HDD platters, using various targets in vacuum systems to deposit composite films on aluminum alloy or glass substrates. This involves many target varieties: the recording layer mainly requires Pt-containing multi-component alloy targets and some ceramic targets (e.g., CoCrPtB, SiO2); the intermediate layer mainly uses Ru and its alloy targets; the soft magnetic underlayer mainly uses non-precious metal targets. We provide coating targets for soft magnetic layer materials, mainly including Cr and Cr alloys, Ni and NiW alloys, CoFe alloys, etc.
